Every numerical claim needs a traceable basis. Use the best source for the specific claim; no institution is authoritative for every question.

5. Nominal or real value, currency and base year where applicable

7. Transformations and calculation formula where practical
8. Missing data and revisions
9. Preliminary or final status
10. Comparability and limitations

Charts must show units; maps must state geography and normalization. Do not mix stocks with flows or compare incompatible geographies. Where wartime collection is disrupted, explain the gaps rather than imply completeness. Distinguish births, crude birth rate, total fertility rate, age-specific fertility, completed cohort fertility, population stock, age structure, mortality, migration flows, net migration and projections. These metrics are not interchangeable.
